The US Youth Fly Fishing Team
"A very youthful US Youth Team has just returned from a solid performance during the 2008 Fips Mouche Youth World Fly Fishing Championships, Portugal. The team finished a respectable 4th place, just a few placing points from a bronze medal, and finished ahead of a dominant Czech Republic Team. All team members demonstrated exceptional skill during the competition and proudly represented the US during the fourteen day stay. The Youth Team is now under a more structured management system, which entails a new trial system and a very active board of directors. With the right people in the right places…good things are on the horizon for the next generation of USA fly fishers. These kids will do well in Colorado." "On behalf of the The US Youth Fly Fishing Team, Inc. and its Board of US Youth Fly Fishing Team Team members list: Richard Formato - Coach
The America Cup Junior Team
"As the coach of ‘The America Cup Junior Team’ I have some work ahead of me. Currently I am in charge of competitors between the ages of fourteen and twenty. My youth team will not compete under any handicap and will be going against some of the best fisherman in the world. My job is to make sure that in the years ahead they are able to qualify for the established national team and represent our country abroad." CAMARILLO, Calif. – Members of the Junior America Cup fly-fishing team will use engraved #1 Abel Creek reels, courtesy of the precision tackle manufacturer, announced Don R. Swanson, president. “Abel is proud to donate the five reels to our Junior Team. We wish them the best of luck and ‘tight lines’ in the competition,” said Swanson. Team members list:
